For the first time since inauguration day, liberal news outlet
CNN is reporting that more Americans disapprove than approve of the job Barack Obama is doing as President of the United States. The January and February polls saw a statistical tie between approval and disapproval but the March report saw the President's approval up, now 51 percent of respondents disapprove of Obama's job performance and 46 percent approve.
Obama's approval rating has dropped steadily each month since December, when it was 54 percent. His highest approval rating in a CNN poll was 76 percent in February 2009 shortly after he took office.
Interestingly on an issue by Issue basis, Obama who ran mostly on domestic policy is rated lowest on domestic Issues, including:
- The Economy (43% approve/54% disapprove)
- Health Care (40% approve/58% disapprove)
- Unemployment (45% approve/53% disapprove)
- Federal Deficit (36% approve/62% disapprove)
- Illegal Immigration (37% approve/56% disapprove)
Americans did approve of the President's performance on education and the environment, but his approval has seen a significant decline over the past month. His ratings on issues, such as Afghanistan and Terrorism remains strong.
While his performance ratings have slid, Americans personally like Obama. The poll found that 70 percent of respondents approve of him as a person, and only 25 percent disapprove.
So overall America believes their President is a screw-up but a very nice guy.
