If Kagan is confirmed, Jews, who represent less than 2 percent of the U.S. population, will have 33 percent of the Supreme Court seats. After posting on the subject, I received much criticism, many people say that Buchanan was just trying to show the lack of diversity on the court. For those people I have one more hateful quote. Buchanan made almost the same statement in 2007, but this time it was about the Senate:
"If you want to know ethnicity and power in the United States Senate, 13 members of the Senate are Jewish folks who are from 2 percent of the population. That is where real power is at.." ("The McLaughlin Group," Feb. 2, 2007).Tomorrow this blog is six years old, and during that time I have called peoples actions anti-Semitic, but very rarely have I said a person was an anti-Semite. That is a very hard claim to make without looking into someones heart. Two weeks ago when General Jones made that joke about Jews being crooked merchants, I called him insensitive with a lousy sense of timing, but not anti-Semitic. After all it was just one case of stupidity.
In the case if Pat Buchanan there is a long track record of making anti-Semitic statements, including (but certainly not limited to) making almost the same comment about the Senate as he made about the Supreme Court.
MSNBC fired Don Imus for ONE racist joke, Pat Buchanan has a track record of hatred and nothing happens. Its time to contact MSNBC president Phil Griffin at 30 Rockefeller Plaza New York, NY 10112, telephone number,212-664-4444; fax number, 212-664-4426, and ask for an explanation why the hosts of programs on which Buchanan regularly appears such as Morning Joe and Hardball with Chris Matthews when at the same time he is spewing hatred against Jews.
