All week we have been reporting on the growing scandal involving Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson. Johnson violated Congressional Black Caucus Foundation rules by awarding scholarship money to four relatives and a top aide's two children, according to an attorney for the Foundation. While the Congresswoman paid back the scholarship funds earlier this week, her explanation that she didn't know nepotism wasn't allowed seem at best disingenuous. Additionally the questionable loans went to students who did not live in Johnson's district, another no-no. Ms. Johnson should have know the rules as she the Chairperson of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) the scholarship sponsor in 2002, and she served on the board of the CBC foundation which distributes the money for the CBC from 2002-2005(the questionable scholarships were awarded in 2005 and 2006).
Today Johnson made another mistake, She allowed herself to be interviewed on the Anderson Cooper 360 program and quite frankly, she was pathetic. In the video below she was floundering around desperately trying to hang on to her "talking points" as a bewildered Cooper tries to get some information, any information out of her. All she kept saying, over and over is that she was sorry, and she corrected the mistake, she didn't know who filled out the forms etc. At one point she claimed that all the records were missing, I almost felt sorry for the corruptocrat.
