Today Little Donny Deutsch the man who gave us the Got Milk campaign subbed for Joe Scarborough. One of his guests was Al Sharpton, the man who gave us...well Al Sharpton.
Its strange having Al Sharpton as a guest on Martin Luther King Day. King taught to judge people by their character, and to protest peacefully. Sharpton is a professional bigot. During his long career the Reverend's words have incited two anti-Semitic pogroms; the Crown Heights riot and the firebombing of the Jewish-owned Freddy’a Fashion Mart in Harlem. Each of the Sharpton-incited pogroms resulted in deaths, but now for some unknown reason Reverend Al believes he is the caretaker of religious tolerance in the country, as well as the protector of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr’s legacy of peaceful protest.
Little Donny and Rev. Al the inciter decided that Arizona should secede from the Union because of the recent Tucson shooting and because Arizona hadn't recognized the Martin Luther King Holiday (if you cannot see video below click here)
I hate to confuse Rev Al and Little Donny with facts but Arizona made the holiday official in 1992, in fact there were two states New Hampshire didn't recognize the Holiday until 1999, South Carolina recognized the national holiday but didn't make it a state holiday until 2000.
In Virginia Dr. King had to share the day with Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson as the holiday was known as Lee-Jackson-King Day until the year 2000 when Virginia realized that there was something wrong with having a Civil Rights Icon share a holiday with a Confederate Army General, so the King Holiday was split off and given its own name. But Mississippi still shares this weird arraignment of sharing Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday and Robert E. Lee's birthday together. On the other hand I suppose that it is no stranger than having Al Sharpton, a man who incited violence that led to the death of 10 people present his views on the Martin Luther King holiday.
