I would be remiss, as a scientist who studied this, if I didn’t mention the following two things:
The first is that, most importantly, we need to do, as a society, in this country and globally, whatever we can to reduce population. [Cheers, applause.] It’s the ‘master variable’ that controls everything [shouts of "that's right"].
Doing whatever it takes to reduce population is the number one thing for the good Dr Miller. And the second thing? Ending the “madness” of economic growth.
Our whole economic system is based on growth, and growth of our population, and this madness has to end.
Miller's words were reinforced this past November when a leading UN climate scientist said that the global warming scare was mostly about redistribution of income:
First of all, developed countries have basically expropriated the atmosphere of the world community. But one must say clearly that we redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy. Obviously, the owners of coal and oil will not be enthusiastic about this. One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole. What is this global warming hoax about? Its about shifting wealth from the US to other nations across the world. In the Case of Dr. Miller, a big part of achieving that goal will be limiting the population and economic growth of the United States.

I posted this and other links on my Facebook wall yesterday in light of the (unrelated) news happenings in Arkansas and Abu Dhabi...
A quote from Professor William R. Cotton: "One does not need strong scientific evidence that human activity is causing global warming to recognize a reduction in the population on earth will have long-term benefits; common sense is all that is needed!"
