Jews Should Join Catholics In Their War Against Anti-Faith Obamacare Regulations

President Obama has declared war on the Catholic Church and the Church is fighting back. Leaders of American Catholics are furious and determined to harness the voting power of the nation’s 70 million Catholic voters. The Issue? A ruling made by Health and Human Services Director Kathleen Sibelius and approved by President Obama based on Obamacare, forcing Catholic schools, hospitals and charities to buy birth control pills, abortion-producing drugs and sterilization coverage for their employees.

Priests all over the country have mobilized against the ruling, reading letters against the ruling from the pulpit, which said in part:
“The Obama Administration has cast aside the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, denying to Catholics our Nation’s first and most fundamental freedom, that of religious liberty. And as a result, unless the rule is overturned, we Catholics will be compelled to either violate our consciences, or to drop health coverage for our employees (and suffer the penalties for doing so). The Obama Administration’s sole concession was to give our institutions one year to comply.

We cannot—we will not—comply with this unjust law. People of faith cannot be made second class citizens. We are already joined by our brothers and sisters of all faiths and many others of good will in this important effort to regain our religious freedom.”
If you think this war between the Obama administration and the Catholic Church is about birth-control, sterilization and/or abortion you are sadly mistaken. This is about the government trying to impose its will on religious practice.

George Washington said about the First Amendment in a letter to Baptist Churches of Virginia
“Every man ought to be protected in worshipping the Deity according to the dictates of his own conscience."
According to the vision of our founding fathers who wrote the constitution the First Amendment didn’t guarantee a separation of church and state; it guaranteed freedom of religion and worship. It was not designed to protect government from the influence of religion, but religion from the bully tactics of the government. This Obamacare ruling is a blatant attack on the constitution.

Barack Obama’s rule forcing Catholic Organization to pay for practices abhorrent to their beliefs is no different than last spring’s proposed local laws in California banning circumcision-- It is a clear attack on religious practice.

Most of America seems to agree. As of 11pm Monday Evening, According to “We the People” hosted by Whitehouse.gov, 22,850 Americans signed a petition entitled, “Rescind the HHS Dept. Mandate Requiring Catholic Employers to Provide Contraceptives/ Abortifacients to Their Employees”.

At the same time on Monday, 8,426 Americans had signed a petition entitled “Stand Strong in Support of New No-Cost Birth Control Policy,” which is in favor of the HHS mandate.

Cass Sunstein, President Obama's administration head the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) once suggested that Animals (or their representatives) should be able to sue humans. So Fido can sue you for not buying the correct rawhide bone. If the Obamcare ruling stands, how long before Sunstein proposes a rule banning Kosher Slaughter? How long before a national ban against circumcision? Could parts of the Haggadah (the book we read during the Passover Seder) be declared offensive to Egyptians and outlawed?

This may seem “way out there” to some, but until a few weeks ago so did a Presidential ruling forcing Catholic Organizations to pay for birth control, and the “day after” abortion pill.

Jews, in fact people of all faiths should support the Catholic Church in its battle against the Obama administration.  If the Catholic Church fails to overturn the ruling.... the next ruling may try to force you to abandon parts of your beliefs.

Jews and other religious factions are joining in, stepping up and speaking out against Obama's war on terror.

The National Association of Evangelicals commented that “The HHS rules trample on our most cherished freedoms and set a dangerous precedent” and the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America stated, “In declining to expand the religious exemption within the healthcare reform law, the Obama Administration has disappointingly failed to respect the needs of religious organizations such as hospitals, social welfare organizations and more.” The Agudath Israel of America stated its opposition, as did the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of North and Central America.
