Hey Martin Bashir, Allen West Risked His Life So You Can Be a Scumbag on TV

The RNCC released a video of Allen West yesterday called This Is Our America. On the shores of West’s congressional district in Florida he describes how the entrepreneurial and indomitable spirit of America that has enabled people to prosper has now been stifled with government debt and dependency, threatening the American dream and opportunities for future generations

But leave it to MSNBC's Martin Bashir an immigrant living the American Dream to mock both West and the dream. This is how Bashir trashed Allen West tonight:

BASHIR: okay, i want to put something to both of you that's equally delusional, and that is Florida congressman Allen West who has produced something that you may be interested to comment on. Take a listen to this. 

The American dream is very simply the fact that a young man born in inner city of Atlanta, Georgia, 1961, now lives here. That’s the American dream. There’s no such thing as a Somali dream, a Chinese dream, there's one dream, the American dream and that's why people came to these shores.

BASHIR: okay. Before you start laughing, why does Mr. West feel that deride e nation? He almost seems to have taken Mitt Romney’s comment about the 47% and extended it to the whole planet, that nobody can have any dreams apart from this country.

WILLIAMS: i her schoolhouse rock there was one of the dings they had, the great American melting pot and showed all these different people jumping into the pot and that became America.

BASHIR: yes.

WILLIAMS: clearly Allen west has never seen schoolhouse rock and that's a problem for him and the reason that's a problem is he seems to have a mentality that it's only about America. it is only about America that's made up of Somalis that have come here and Mexicans that have come here and Irish people that have come here and the list is endless. What makes us great is that we don't look like 1789. That’s what makes us great and Allen seems to want to sugar or white coat it. That’s not the way to see a modern day America. The president said it in the debate. Mitt Romney wants a 1950 social policy. Clearly Allen west is running on a 1950 social policy. That’s not what 2012 looks like nor should it.

BASHIR: John than?

CAPEHART: when he says I live here, does that mean on that bench on the beach? I mean is that what he means? Allen West is in a tough race. He is a firebrand. He’s popular among the tea party because he actually says what he means and what he says is sometimes unhinged.

For those of you who are not familiar with Bashir, he made his name in 2003 with a "news" special called Living with Michael Jackson. After spending eight-months as part of Jackson's entourage, Bashir conducted a series of interviews with the pop singer. The final edit of the interview was widely seen as an example of yellow journalism, deliberately skewed to make the entertainer look like a bad parent and child molester.

It was obvious that Bashir exploited the friendship he developed with the singer to further his own career. Following the broadcast, The New York Times called Bashir's journalism style "callous self-interest masked as sympathy.

Jackson and his personal cameraman who also taped the sessions released their own version of the interview, which showed Bashir complimenting Jackson for the "spiritual" quality of the Neverland Ranch, contradicting the journalist's previous statements that it was a "dangerous place" for children. Bashir is also seen describing Jackson as a wonderful father and says that Jackson's relationship with his children "almost makes him weep"

According to Dieter Wiesner, Jackson's manager at the time, the Bashir interview sent the singer down the path that lead to his death.

Mr Wiesner told the Sun: "It broke him. It killed him. He took a long time to die, but it started that night. Previously the drugs were a crutch, but after that they became a necessity.

Martin Bashir demonstrated tonight the typical progressive attitude which states patriotism and the belief in the American dream is nothing but rubbish. He also believes that he can get away with trashing anyone the same way he did with Jackson.

But Lt. Col West is no Michael Jackson. Rep West risked his life so people like Bashir can be a scumbag on live TV

Having met Rep West a few time I can vouch that he is a stand-up guy who is not only a war hero but an honest public servant. West has more class in his little pinky than Bashir has in his entire body. Allen West is the embodiment of the American Dream.  Bashir is the embodiment of why people do not trust the media.
